Ann’s practice is primarily focussed in the areas of personal injury and clinical negligence. She also has a keen interest in health and safety law. Her legal skills are augmented by commercial experience of risk management, providing her with considerable insight into the issues arising in causes where perceived risk management failures are a live issue.
Ann undertook the accelerated LLB, at University of Edinburgh graduating in 2005 with distinction, completing the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006. She trained as a solicitor with COPFS before pursuing her career as an Advocate. During her time with COPFS Ann worked in specialised units, including the Health and Safety Division, Appeals Unit and Fatalities Investigation. She is an experienced court practitioner and has appeared in, and managed, many complex and sensitive cases. She has appeared in proceeds of crime proceedings and fatal accident enquiries.
Before turning to law in 2003, Ann worked in the financial services sector where she specialised in credit risk management. Ann advised on the legal aspects of managing risk, ensuring that the risk models complied with legal requirements. She worked with European financial institutions carrying out due diligence on the risk models they used.
