A skilled trial litigator, John is always well prepared. He is a formidable cross-examiner, who also has a reputation for getting the best evidence from both lay and professional witnesses in examination in chief. John has a good way about him with clients. He also works inclusively with instructing agents.

John has experience of litigating complex and lengthy cases, including 4 cases with over 100 days of evidence; 2 without a leader.

Reference from Agent:

I have instructed John Moir for 25 years, he has been my go to Advocate since I first instructed him in 1998 in a particularly difficult and complex Freeing for Adoption case. We were successful, to the extent of being awarded expenses in our favour (against a local authority) with a significant uplift! Since then I have instructed Mr. Moir in numerous cases, from Divorce, Contact/Residence, Mental Health, Children’s Hearing, Disability, Fatal Accident Inquiry and Adoption cases. I’ve found him to be always well prepared, he builds a good relationship with the client and is clear in the approach he intends to take in the case. In court Mr Moir is particularly adept at both examination in chief and cross examination, I was always content that my case was in informed and safe hands.
