Julie was a solicitor in private practice for 20 years before calling to the Bar in 2026. She spent her career at various firms that specialised in personal injury and clinical negligence. She was latterly a Partner at a fast growing insurance practice where she led the Edinburgh team.

In her career as a solicitor Julie acted in a wide range of personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents, workplace injuries, occupiers’ liability cases and claims with a suspected fraudulent element. She was regularly instructed for complex injury and fatal claims. She has a particular interest in clinical negligence and represented a variety of private hospitals and healthcare clinics. She acted for a number of defenders in the Pelvic Mesh litigation.

Julie is also experienced in pursuing and defending property damage claims including those arising from fires, floods and defective products. She has advised on insurance issues and disputes across numerous types of claim.

Prior to calling Julie appeared in a wide range of procedural and evidential hearings in the Sheriff Courts.
