General information

After practising as a solicitor for 17 years in both the public and private sectors, Julie called to the Bar in 2013.  As a solicitor in private practice Julie specialised in commercial litigation with an emphasis on property litigation.  She has experience as a solicitor in a wide range of property related disputes in both the sheriff court and the Court of Session.  In the public sector Julie advised Council committees on a range of legal issues and was the Legal Advisor to East Ayrshire’s Adoption and Fostering Panel.  Julie also represented the Council in the sheriff court, at tribunal and in other forums in respect of a range of Council interests including planning; education; social work; housing and employment.  Julie is a Legally Qualified Chair of the Scottish Social Services Council.  In 2018 Julie was appointed as a Standing Junior Counsel to the Scottish Government and has been appointed to the new panel of Scottish Counsel for EHRC Scotland. Julie is a part-time tutor on the Diploma in Legal Practise at the University of Glasgow. Julie has a particular interest in Education Law.
