We are delighted to announce that Ann MacNeill who called to the Bar on the 29th Jun has joined Themis Advocates. Prior to turning to the law, Ann was a Chartereod Banker, graduating from the University of Glasgow with an M.B.A. She specialised during her banking career in managing credit risk. She graduated from University of Edinburgh with a M.Sc. by Research and then a Ph.D. researching the use of statistical models to manage risk. She then undertook her LLB, at University of Edinburgh graduating in 2005, completing the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006. She trained as a solicitor with COPFS before pursuing her career as an advocate. During her time with COPFS Ann worked in specialised units, including Health and Safety, Appeals and Fatalities Investigation. She spent 5 years prosecuting Sheriff and Jury cases, and is very experienced in managing complex and sensitive cases involving vulnerable witnesses and large volumes of productions. She has appeared in proceeds of crime proceedings and fatal accident enquiries. During her period of devilling she has focussed on personal injury, clinical negligence and health and safety law.
