Themis Advocates Welcomes Four New Members

Matthew McPherson

After a decade of service as a police officer, Matthew transitions to the Bar, bringing a unique blend of experience and perspective. He qualified as a solicitor at the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and has held various roles in both the UK and Scottish parliaments. Matthew aims to establish a mixed practice in criminal and public law.

Ross Cameron

With a decade of experience as a Solicitor specialising in Commercial litigation, Ross joins the Bar with a wealth of expertise. Ross’ focus areas include construction and engineering disputes, commercial contracts, and professional negligence. Before calling to the Bar, Ross worked as a senior associate at an international law firm, primarily defending claims against construction professionals. Additionally, Ross has experience in Fatal Accident Inquiries, professional misconduct, and media disputes, and holds a keen interest in public law, professional regulation, and defamation.

Nicola Hogg

Nicola brings over 20 years of experience as a solicitor to the Bar, having worked in both private practice and for local authorities. She has gained extensive experience in the Sheriff Courts, Education Chamber, Housing and Property Chamber of the First Tier Tribunals, Employment Tribunal, and Court of Session. Nicola specialised in commercial and property litigation whilst working for a large city firm. During her tenure with Local Government, Nicola handled a wide variety of matters, including permanence for children, child and adult protection orders (including forced marriage and guardianships), judicial reviews related to age assessments and homelessness, recovery of possession of heritable property, commercial lease disputes including dilapidations and debt recovery, education placing appeals and additional support needs placing appeals, and Civic Government licensing appeals.

Mark O’Reilly
With 12 years of experience as a solicitor, specialising in personal injury, clinical negligence, Fatal Accident Inquiries, and healthcare litigation, Mark brings a wealth of expertise to the Bar. His practice encompasses both Pursuer and Defender litigation, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape.
