Vincent Raynouard (appellant) v. His Majesty’s Advocate

Themis member Chris Stephen appeared as junior Counsel for the Lord Advocate (led by Paul Harvey, AD) in the extradition appeal of Vincent Raynouard (appellant) v. His Majesty’s Advocate (representing the French Republic) [2024] HCJAC 2 in the Appeal Court, High Court of Justiciary. The appeal concerned a person accused in France of denying the occurrence of the Holocaust and the judicial authorities in France sought his extradition in order to try the requested person for such offences. The Appeal Court refused the appellant’s application for leave to appeal. The judgment of 26 January 2024 is available here.
